Shopaholics Anonymous

My name is Samantha and I am addicted to shopping.
(*Hi, Samantha.*)
Unfortunately, I am a broke joke.
(*Awww! :(*)

If you are anything like me, you probably do not want to give up your addiction.
Well, I'm here for you.

I've come up with a few simple tricks to shopping on a budget.

Number one rule:

ONLY BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD.
(Pretty obvious, yah?)

It's an easy thing to forget when you are an addict.

A few other tips:

1. Use your shopping as a reward!
Today I bought myself some pants for finishing my midterm before the rest of the class.
(You sould probably find better reasons than being a speedy test taker.)

Maybe if you actually pass your test, or overcome a fear, or try something new, etc.

2. You do not have to be a hipster to shop at thrift stores.

The best clothes are the one's with a bit of character!
"One man's trash is another man's treasure," I always say.

Which brings me to my third tip:

3. Set a price ceiling for yourself.

I never spend more than $30 on any one item.
(Shoes not included.)
That way, you don't have to feel bad about your purchases!
I mean, who can be upset over a $5 pair of pants?!

Plus, you'll be happier about the things you actually save to buy.

4. If you are not sure, don't buy it.

What happens when you get home and never wear it again?
Wasted cash, that's what.

Think of it this way:
If this item continues to eat at you, go back and buy it later.
If it's not there, it wasn't meant to be.

5. Remember that you don't need new things to make a new outfit.

It's called mixin' and matchin', bitches!

Those shorts don't only go with that one top and I'm SURE you have enough accessories to make that dress look completely different than it did the last time you wore it.

So to finish up here, remember these words of wisdom and maybe your shopping addiction will become less of a problem and more of a benefit.
Maybe.

Also,
"Shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist."

Forever Yours,
Samantha
